Disaster Services - Prepare a Senior for an Emergency!

For the fifth year at least 60 volunteers from RSVP and Senior Companions are teaming with AbilityFirst (disabled children 5 to 22) to build emergency preparedness kits for low income, isolated seniors. With a California Volunteers Inclusion Initiative grant and donations from Mount San Antonio Gardens in Claremont, CA and Walgrens we were able to secure the items necessary to build 250 emergency preparedness kits. In addition to the 200 kits which will be provided free of charge to isolated, homebound seniors, 50 will go to volunteer drivers in the Community Connection Program which provides transportation to seniors for medical appts. and life enriching activities.

Foothill Communities RSVP volunteers have been providing emergency preparedness training to mobile home parks and senior housing (over 55). It is our goal to provide training to over 500 seniors this year.
