Education - Superstar in Education, 2012: Central Middle School Mentoring Program
The Central Middle School Mentoring Program matches middle school students with trained and screened volunteers from the community and local colleges. Mentors provide the one-to-one attention of a caring and supportive adult that many children do not already have in their lives. Mentoring occurs during the school day, on school property, with the aid and support of the Mentor Coordinator. Mentors provide a stable, positive role model in a consistent relationship that is mutually beneficial to both participants. This program is managed and coordinated by an AmeriCorps Member serving as the Youth Ambassador, Mentor Coordinator.
