Veterans & Military Families - Operation Military Kids Speak Out – Voices of Resilience: Arizona 4-H and AmeriCorps
WINNER: 2012 National Service Impact Award
Arizona 4-H Program Coordinator and Operation Military Kids (OMK) Project Director Teresa Noon brings her passion and dedication to supporting military families engaging both AmeriCorps*VISTA and AmeriCorps members in a variety of digital and personalized programming to help military kids deal with the impacts of deployment. Speak Out Military Kids and Pathfinders Career Camps are two examples of how 4-H and AmeriCorps work together to provide innovative avenues for military kids to build confidence and learn communications skills. Through these educational efforts, kids learn workforce skills and develop abilities to help teach other kids how to cope with the deployment of parents--before, during and after. VISTA and AmeriCorps members provide positive role models for teens who have a parent or two deployed overseas.
