Capacity Building - AmeriCorps: Building the Capacity of Communities
Maureen Eccleston: Service at Work!
Maureen Eccleston is the face of service! Maureen’s history with national and community service began as a member of AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps after graduating from York College of Pennsylvania. Since then, she has served as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member, a Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator with the Florida Alliance for Student Service, a Service-Learning Coordinator with the National Civilian Community Corps, and a Program Manager for the national office of Experience Corps in Washington, D.C.
Now as the Director of Volunteer Maryland, an AmeriCorps*State program, Maureen Eccleston takes the lead role in AmeriCorps member and nonprofit training, staff supervision, and financial management. Maureen tirelessly works to carry out this cumbersome program management with precision and a great attitude. As a result, Volunteer Maryland consistently produces sustainable change in local communities with its highly effective AmeriCorps members and impactful program design.
Maureen’s passion and dedication for service do not stop with her day-to-day management of Volunteer Maryland. An experienced trainer, Maureen often takes her show on the road to deliver how-to messages on volunteerism and service. Whether presenting at a National conference or delivering a workshop at a local Saturday morning citizen-engagement event, Maureen infects everyone along the way with her passion for service.
Through her enthusiastic support of service and volunteerism, Maureen inspires others to tackle the toughest community problems. And, by generously sharing her years of experience and skills, she provides individuals and communities with the tools to turn inspiration into results!
