TEAMS/AmeriCorps Fellowship Program is a transformational teacher development program that works to recruit, train, support, and retain diverse teachers for our nations’ most needy schools. Based in San Francisco, TEAMS collaborates with school districts, community based organizations and universities to provide pedagogical and financial support to 375 aspiring teachers each year. Over 2500 teachers have been trained through TEAMS since 1999 and in a recent survey of alumni, 80% are still teaching in K-12 classrooms. Of these, 88% have been teaching over 4 years and 65% of these alums have over 6 years of teaching experience. Nationally over 50% of new teachers drop out by the 5th year, a testament to the caliber of teachers TEAMS attracts and supports.
