Veterans & Military Families - Kimberly Marrtin - Increasing the Impact of the Veterans Initiative

I am nominating Kimberly Martin for the National Service Impact Award. Kimberly spent her service year as a VISTA for HFHI managing and facilitating a group of ten VetCorps Vistas placed in different states all over the nation. This team has a goal to provide services to veterans and active duty military in multiple ways. Kimberly was extremely innovative in her management of this first ever VetCorps team. She implemented a weekly conference call for the VetCorps Vistas in which calls would vary from an open forum in which best practices and challenges were shared, to special guest speakers from organizations who provide special services to veterans in order to provide the team with networking opportunities. Kimberly would also keep the team posted of any grant opportunities that could be used for the benefit of veterans. By providing the team with the tools and materials to better serve veterans, Kimberly educated the team of these other services as well as other organizations of Habitat and its mission. As a result Kimberly assisted the most number of veterans and communities. Kimberly not only connected the team and built relationships between Habitat and other organizations, she was able to bring everyone together for a conference to better communicate, not only with each other, but with HFHI and other key stakeholders. This was done so as to improve the team and its practices for the future. Always keeping the future welfare of veterans and the Veteran Initiative in mind, Kimberly Martin is the perfect candidate to receive this award because I know that many of us would have been lost without her leadership and knowledge.
