Healthy Futures - Senior Corps - OCAB Community Action Agency, Inc. - Esau Isaac


Mr. Esau Isaac, age 74, began as a volunteer with the OCAB Community Action Agency, Inc. Senior Companion Program in November 2000 after retiring from his job at a local bakery. For 11 ½ years, Mr. Isaac has volunteered at The Methodist Oaks, a continuing care retirement community in Orangeburg offering residential accommodations for senior adults at all levels. He currently volunteer with the activity department in the medical building, four hours per day, five days per week. He spends most of his time in the dementia unit. He takes the residents fishing at the pond, and he also assist at the county fair each year. He can make any bingo game an exciting time and will even purchase bingo gifts on his own for the residents." Mr. Isaac’s other contributions include singing gospel music with the residents, planting, and harvesting the center’s garden each year. He also brings vegetables from his own garden for the residents to shell and snap. They enjoy it so much, they cook them and he enjoys serving them."
