The Mobile Food Pantry (MFP) is a program of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast TN where purchased and donated food is distributed to seniors and children in communities where there is not a Food Bank presence.

In FY 2011 more than 400,000 lbs.were distributed and more than 11,000 individuals and 2,400 seniors were served through Mobile Food Pantry. Under the direction of an AmeriCorps VISTA, the Food Bank attempted to enhance options for economic opportunity. A survey was conducted that determined that 45% of food recipients indicated that they were more able to pay bills as a result of MFP. Also, 22% shared that they were more able to save their money, and 21% of respondents said that they were able to purchase necessary prescriptions as a result of MFP.
